“Laces Tight” poetry by Kurt Boone HARDCOVER
$20.00
“Laces Tight” is a love letter to wearing sneakers written in poetry. Remembering my days growing up in Hollis, Queens, the home of Run DMC in New York City during the 1970’s. Matching your junior high or high school outfit with your sneakers was a way of life. Going to school or a house party with brand new sneakers was a ritual for us youth. Whether it was a pair of Converse, Puma, Pro-Keds, Pony or Adidas, you wanted to look good in sneakers. I started mentioning sneakers in my urban poetry in the early 2000’s. Often times in relation to my job as a foot messenger in New York City. I wrote poems about Puma Clyde’s, Air Jordan’s, Converse and many other brands in what is now sometimes called sneaker culture. Poems with titles “The Sneaker Game”, “Baby Jordan”, “Nike Fashion”, “Friends and Family”, On Meeting The Bot”, and Hip Hop Effect” are included in the book. Telling my experiences and thoughts from over 50 years wearing sneakers with your laces tied tight”. Cover Design by Denis Carrier of Studio Folk and illustrations by Josefina Modeste. Each hardcover cover copy is number in sequence and signed.
